Rukungiri District: Magic! Over 400 students use 3 computers for lessons! Appeal to President Museveni for rescue- Bishop Ruhindi H/S-Kebisoni
Kigezi Region: Bishop Ruhindi Kebisoni High School appeals to President Museveni for Computers, Science Laboratories and toilets for Students.
The National Resistance Movement- NRM’s Government policy on education says that every Parish should have one Government Primary School, every Sub County must have one Secondary School and atleast vocational School per District.
Today one of ONC’s Cordinators, AKAMPA RUGABA visited some Schools in Rukungiri District, Kigezi Sub region and this is what he found out.
Where as Bishop Ruhindi Kebisoni High School, serves both Kebisoni Town Council and Kebisoni Sub County, the School has many challenges.
This School was officially started in the 90s and the foundation stone was laid by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa on the 25th September 1993
The School currently has a population of Four Hundred Fifty (450) Students from both O’level and A’level and with twenty One Teachers.
It is a Government aided, mixed, day and boarding secondary School.
Challenges:
The School’s latrines are in a bad shape especially the girls’ and boys boarding section.
The computer laboratory has only 3 functioning computers to serve over 300 Students!.
The Science Laboratories have no equipment, apparatus nor desks/furniture to use.
These laboratories are at the same time used as classes, students keep on alternating from Laboratory room to Library so as to enable lessons continue.
Students narrated to our Cordinator how the School library lacks Science books like Biological Science books among others, they also narrated on how they take computer/ICT classes in theory yet the subject is now compulsory and examinable at senior four O’level cariculum.
The School’s Deputy head Teacher M/S Daphine Abaho requested Government to equip their School Library, Science Laboratories, as well renovate classrooms, construct new toilets and allocate to them more Science Teachers.
She appreciated the work being done by Office of the National Chairman of NRM headed by Hajjat Hadijah Uzeiye Namyalo.
