CIDI celebrates 25 years of Community Service

Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI) celebrates 25 years of Community service, leaving no one behind.

The celebrations of CIDI at 25 years are live at Royal Suites Bugolobi, have started with a sermon from Rev Father Kiibi Katerega Deogratious, who called upon CIDI staff, employees to work for a legacy and not just to end up as salary earners.

The legacy they will leave behind will live in CIDI’s work for ever and continue to transform communities and changing lives.

Rev Father Deogratious further called upon youth to work towards creating better communities and a world.
He prayed for the employees of CIDI to continue serving tirelessly to reach more millions and millions of people especially the under privileged.

It’s on on this same occasion that the book of CIDI’s Executive Director, Dr Jjuuko Fulgensio, was launched officially by Hon Cyrus Member of Parliament from Kumi Municipality who represented the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda.

Dr Juuko’s book, EPIC Persistence Published by TFK- Lumnary Publishers, shares about a One Man’s Journey of an Ardent Community Developer. It tells a story Dr Juuko’s journey in community work, service beyond self.
The book can be bought at CIDI offices in Muyenga as well in all field offices and leading book stores country wide.

The celebrations attracted a number of dignitaries, development practitioners, researchers, executive Directors from top NGOs, International Development partners in Uganda like Caritas Uganda, Caritas Denmark, religious leaders- MSGR. Gerald Kalumba, Parish Priest Christ The King, Vicar General Kampala Acrchidicon who at the same time represented the Archbishop His Grace Paul Ssemwogerere, Hon Boniface Okot, Youth Member of Parliament Northern region, Hon Nyamutoro Phionah- National Youth Female Member of Parliament, Mr Tollea Franco- Commissioner Children Affairs… among others.

The Member of Parliament for Nakawa, Hon Balimwezo Ronald appreciated CIDI’s work with in not only in Nakawa but also in Uganda atlarge, he testified how diseases have reduced in Nakawa due to WASH and programs on health.

The Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Hon Minsa Kabanda appreciated CIDI staff for complementing Government programmes as well for working towards achieving a disease and poverty free Uganda, she invited CIDI management to her office, bought Dr Juuko’s books and pledged more support to CIDI’s work especially in Kampala.

Dr Juuko while talking to the media stressed that as CIDI they have been able to support over 17,000 farmers country wide, they have been able to improve livelihoods, get enough food to feed their families, changed attitudes in areas of WASH thus preventing disease including COVID-19, Ebola as well created water safe areas or investimensts, in Schools, communities in Teso and Karamoja.

The story of CIDI started from half rented room but as of now the organisation has a fully equipped office space which is permanent.

CIDI has comptent staff, will continue strengthening capacity, bring more partners on board, in future we want to see how best to implement innovative technologies like solar bags, improved fertilizers, environment friendly innovations.

CIDI wants to work more with the Youth, reason the National Youth Advocacy Platform (NYAP) was started to amplify on the youth voices in the country.

Equally started a youth Skilling centre in Kabojja, and the youth have potential and as CIDI we want to assure the youth that the future is today. Says, CIDI’s Executive Director, Dr Juuko
Fulgensio.

CIDI has been able to award employees who have served deligently for over 10 years as well the new strategic plan 2021-2026 has been launched by Hon Minsa Kabanda alongside board of Directors and development Partners.
